Every month we bring you a new challenge to help push towards your goal of being physically healthy and mentally well. Following the sleep challenge, we have the meditation challenge which aims to ground you and help you feel less stressed.

Although meditation may have a reputation of being a spiritual ritual (which some people may not believe in or follow), it actually can be used to help you feel more focused, relieve you from anxiety, and give you mental clarity to allow you to navigate through life with motivation and purpose.

How does this challenge work?

On the app, you will find a whole host of guided meditations covering different topics to cater to everyone’s goals. The objective is to perform 1 meditation daily from the library within the mental health section. Once you’ve completed a full clip, you will get a 1 point, the more clips you complete the more points you score.

The winner will be the person with the most points, i.e. the person who has completed the most clips within the 30 days of the challenge. There is a chance of tying with another candidate if two people end up completing the same number of clips. You can find the clips by:

  • Clicking on the health tab then the mental health section
  • Or by tapping on the dark blue mindfulness program card on your home screen

You will be able to access a 30-day pack of preselected meditations that you can choose from for the challenge, some clips are short while others can be up to 15 minutes long.

Why participate in this challenge?

The more you meditate the more benefits you will reap. The 30-day program preps you to integrate it within your lifestyle as a habit that will bring you peace and serenity. After completing the challenge you can choose to continue with meditation every day or reduce the frequency, it all depends on your goal and need for it.

Some benefits you can expect to feel and gain from the challenge are:

  • Reduces stress levels
  • It tames your anxiety helping you take control of the situation
  • Increases your level of self-awareness
  • Allows you to stay calm and lengthens your attention span
  • Keeps your mind at ease which can improve the quality of your sleep

If you’ve never meditated, here are some helpful tips that can help you get started:

  • Set reminders and create a daily routine where you meditate every day at the same time.
  • Try meditating first thing in the morning and/or the last thing before you sleep, this can help you get a good start to your day and clear your mind to be able to sleep better.
  • Perhaps allocate 2mins before your lunchtime at work to destress by meditating, it can be helpful for digestion as well.
  • Download the clips in advance and have them ready whenever you need them, you can also play them through your phone’s speaker whilst laying in bed.
  • Use it when you feel you need to take a moment to pause, if you’re feeling anxious, depressed, or need a little pick me up to help you feel better.
